Is there anything cuter than swing coats? Well, maybe polka dots? Bows? Sweetheart necklines? Mary-janes? This outfit has a little bit of everything pretty.
Thanks for reading dears,
Karen

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
(North of the 49th parallel that is... well, almost... Victoria is actually in line with the United States at the 48th... which is why our cell phones tell us we're roaming and "Welcome to the US!" when we're by the ocean in parts of the city!)
I hope you enjoyed/ will enjoy lots of yams and stuffing (my favourites) and family and friends. I had a lovely dinner last night, and am looking forward to a second tonight! I'm so thankful to be living in this beautiful city with all my family around (I lived away from them for 18 years.) I'm thankful for getting hired so quickly and really liking my job. I'm also extremely thankful for all of you who take time to comment, like or even read my posts (or purchase little friends!) I'm thankful for this space where I have the chance to document and share the things I make and do. Thank you so much! Happy Thanksgiving!
Okay, I had to sneak this in here. I found this 1950's/60's brooch on Etsy and I'm in love. Isn't it amazing!?
(I'm going to try to fiddle with the design of this blog again, I'm going to spend a lot of time doing this so it's perfect and I won't have to change it in a few weeks, haha. So if things are looking a little ugly or weird, that's why!) ** I have no background in this and don't use photoshop, so it's probably a much longer process than it is for most people!)
Thanks for reading dears,
Karen
I'm sure most people who are crafty or arty have thought of this before..." I wish there were more of me!"I could knit, draw, paint, blog.... all at the same time! Think of how much more I could produce! Think of the ideas that sit around in creative people's notebooks that are left to sit dusty for decades!
This line of thinking has disastrous effects on cooking, cleaning, self up-keep and almost everything not associated with being creative. Cloning is not the answer either (though I wouldn't mind having a lovely crafting day sipping tea and knitting with myself.. I think I need to meet more crafty girls!) I've finally bought a notebook...
Ta-Da!
Where I will put all the fun ideas that I have into it. That way, I will always have something to do on a rainy day, something to be excited about, and something fun to look forward to. While I would love to be able to knit a doll at lightening speed (especially last year when I made 30 for the craft fair!) I do enjoy the process, and feel a huge sense of accomplishment when they are done. If I was a human factory--- I don't think they would feel as special. So, I will doodle my little drawings, write down my schemes, and go at my own pace. I'm only twenty-three... I'll have oodles of time to get it all (well most of it) done!
I'm now going to go clean my apartment and paint my nails (definitely in that order)
Happy Thanksgiving!
This weekend is Thanksgiving and I'm so excited. Sometimes I think I like Thanksgiving even more than Christmas. I love the pumpkins, the changing leaves, delicious yams and yummy stuffing. It's the perfect introduction to the cooler weather. My parent's got some wood for their fireplace and we've had two lovely fires so far. Their little dachshund absolutely loves basking in the crackling warmth (I'm rather partial to joining him.) It hasn't rained here in three months, which is extremely unusual as we have a very warm/temperate climate with a lot of rain. Each week I gaze longingly at the weather forecast for a nice downpour, but it's been sun sun sun!
Fun Fact: Apparently we used to cerebrate Thanksgiving in November like America, but I'm glad we changed in to the second Monday in October in 1957 (though I'm not sure why). Things are too dead and wintery up here in November to look very harvesty, haha.
Anyways, whether you are enjoying turkey this weekend or not, here's this week's Tuesday Treasures!
Sweet Turkey Dress
Little Acorn Men
Turkey Tutu
Pumpkin Dress-- wish this came in my size-hehe
This little hat is too sweet!

Have a lovely weekend! What is your favourite holiday?
I wish I had this outfit, and these lovely cupcakes! Mmm!
Okay, technically my first post was on the 19th of last year. I forgot. Well, I forgot to check, and September has been flying by now that I actually have a job. Considering I spent most of last year doing an intense college course, I'm pleasantly surprised at how many posts I managed to put together. This next year, I hope to post more, write more, and share more of what I'm working on. I'll also be updating my other blog, Dearest Doodles with some of the drawings I'll be working on. I'm going to attempt another sale, preferably at a lower cost venue like a Flea Market, and maybe another Christmas Craft Fair in 2013. (I don't think I have enough stock for one this year). I'm also going to try to make a few more complex/artsy dolls with more embellishments and details. I'm not going to say anymore because then nothing will be a surprise!
Anyways, I'm so glad that I decided to make Elsa, the first little doll that inspired all this. Knitting these little cuties has brought me so much joy the last year. I love hearing and seeing kids happy with their new little friends (and adults too!) Thank so you much everyone for your support!! (please send picture to my Facebook page or to weepingmermaiddesigns@gmail.com I'd love to have some pictures of people enjoying their new friends! (If you include a note saying it's okay, I'll post them in a gallery on Facebook and on my blog!)
If do you read this blog (which I can see people do) please comment! I'd love to hear what you have to say. If you're not much of a commenter, please like my Facebook page (click the link at the bottom of the post) and you'll receive more updates and pictures right to your feed!
