Doll Number 8

February 22, 2013

Hello hello!

Earlier this week I was pretty sure I'd be photographing a pile of knitted limbs. My wrist wasn't doing too good (like, having to stop everything to ice it most evenings---argh!) but I managed to pull ahead and finish Charlie! I've always thought Charlie was a cute name for a girl (Charlotte--- Charlie?) I'm LOVING The bright baby blue I recently purchased. I'm excited to use it in more combinations, but I think it looks smashing with the red.

Here she is! Number Eight!

Happy Weekend! I'm looking forward to this weekend so much. I plan on just doing fun creative things and relaxing. Sounds like a good weekend to me!

The cherry blossoms are starting to blossom, and although it POURED rain this morning, it's sunny and bright (if not a bit chilly). Are things looking like spring where you are? Or is it still snowy and frosty?

Enjoy you weekends, whatever the weather may be!

Thanks for reading,

Happy Friday everyone!

The sun is shining and I'm feeling very motivated to do some mass cleanings and organizings... so I'll keep this short. Here's this week's dollie--- Lucita! I'm in love with her vibrant and colourful sweater! It was so much fun to knit. I'm really enjoying the beehive/pigtail combination lately (really, you hadn't noticed?) I love the 1960's vibe it gives. (also makes them extra huggable--- more to love!)

I recently bought a lovely knitting needled case and a plethora of bamboo knitting needles off Etsy. (Seriously, so much cheaper than Michaels!! Astoundingly so!) Because I have so many sizes now, I can knit with a variety of yarn weights! Horray! I have now acquired a bunch of fun colours that weren't available in the yarn that I usually buy--- so I'm very inspired to keep knitting up a rainbow of loveable friends!

Have a great weekend!!

Hello Everybody!

How is it Friday again?? I know I sound like a broken record, but it's just SHOCKING to me how fast the week goes by. Warped speed! I was good and didn't knit all week, but still have a dollie I knitted two weeks ago to share! Her name is Tegan and she's Anaya's sister. I love how cute they look together... bright, retro and fun. I hope the little girls love them.

My wrists finally feel like they were on the mend. I went a little nuts a few weeks ago and I think this is my body telling me that knitting all weekend is a terrible idea. It's good actually, because I've decided to put more time into getting healthy. Like really (drink home-made smoothies and get up at 5:30 and exercise and maybe even jog outside where people can see me once I get good enough)get healthy. Pretty radical for me.

I'm not going to start out TOO crazy because then I'll just crash and burn, but I'm hoping to make enough small changes that they turn into habits and I can build upon them. I'm terrible for thinking that every time I have a minute I should be "making something" but I need this body to continue to be creative, so I suppose I should be put SOME time into maintaining it! There's a very good quote I read at physiotherapy: "Be kind to your body, it's the only place you have to live". Very true.

It sounds very new-years-ish to have these goals, but I really feel like I'm finally responsible enough to succeed.(Repetitive schedule, not in school anymore etc.) Maybe I'll sneak in little updates on here so I can be accountable and show that even if you're a "crafty-sit-on-the-sofa-knitting-drawing-and-reading-all-evening-kinda-girl"(or guy) you can incorporate healthy habits.

PS: I'm getting better at illustrator! I traced a Violin! I'm no longer in despair!

Have a very lovely long weekend (to everyone in BC- Family Day!) and a lovely regular one if you're anywhere else!

Any getting started fitness tips you'd like to share? I'll take em!

Doll Number 5

February 1, 2013

Hello everyone! Has another week gone by already? Wow. It seems like my life has been flying by these last few months!

This is Anaya. She has a matching sister that will be next week's post. A family friend purchased these two little ones for her granddaughters while she was visiting... it's fun to know where the dollies will end up!

Speaking of children... my cousin brought a beautiful little boy into the world a week ago, and the family couldn't be more thrilled. He's absolutely lovely, and I was lucky enough to get to hold him, visit with his older sister, and their sweet dachshunds. It was a great day!

I'm really loving this dollie pattern with the beehive, pigtails, and sweaters. I might have to make one in every colour! Sadly, I've completely worn out my wrists... like inflamed muscles and clunking wrist bones worn out. Apparently typing all day and obsessively knitting isn't what our wrists were designed for... who knew? Thank goodness I work at a physiotherapy/chiro etc. office so I'm well taken care of and can get lots of free advice! I'm going to try and take a break this weekend (I made next week's at the same time so #6 will be still be up!) It might kill me not to knit...(especially because I just bought some new colours that are fantastic!!) but it'll probably be happier in the long run! Wish me luck!

How has your week been?

Okay, I'm pretty excited by this one. I did some devising and realized that a smaller needle makes a (in my opinion) tidier looking arm. I'm going to try this on the legs too. (Never too late for a little experimenting!) I'm really liking her "woodsier" wardrobe. I knitted in a lot of texture into the sweater, to look like one of those Aran ones. She looks very British to me, so I

named her Piper. (Is anyone else loving her little stubby pigtails? As soon as my hair gets long enough... this is happening.. and I do realize I'm almost 24.)

This week has positively flown by. I've been trying to work on devising better systems at work. (I may have come up with a few semi-brilliant ideas to make our lives easier.) Office work isn't very glamorous (unless you're Joan Holloway), but it does feel good to reorganize and reduce the tediousness of tasks.

I'm writing this post Thursday night, before I start my Adobe Illustrator class. I'll have to update you on my impressions/ progress. I'm pretty excited but nervous at the same time!

I'm going to spend some time this week drawing and updating my other blog Dearest Doodles (not linking because I want it to look better and have updates first! I can't wait to draw again, it's been much much too long!)

Hope everyone's having a good week! Are you working on any 52 or 365 projects?

Thanks for reading!

PS:

Thank you for new readers that left comments! Makes my day!

PPS

: How gorgeous is the retro rotary phone she is standing on. It's getting it's own post soon!
