I love my city

So last weekend I took some photographs of downtown. I'm not a photographer by any means, but I thought it would be fun to spend the morning taking some photos of my beautiful city. I walked all the way from Chinatown to fisherman's wharf and back, which was a pretty long walk in the hot summer sun. I cooled off with a frozen yogurt afterwards, which was pretty amazing in the air-conditioned shoppe. I changed the photos to black and white, because I've always liked the contrast of black and white photos. Maybe I'll post of few coloured versions later, because Victoria is a very colourful place in the summertime.

Here are a few of my favourite photos....Enjoy!

Walking along the harbour walk way

Can you spot the little bird?

There is something so adorable about a houseboat. I love this photo.

This little taxi zoomed by me when I was standing at the dock

The Gates of Harmonious Interest and the lions that protect them

Best Chinese food in Victoria. Love the retro sign.

So many beautiful flowers in Victoria

I always seem to get British tour buses in my shots. Love the architecture of the Bard and Banker pub.

This heron landed right in front of me. So beautiful!

Yummy frozen yogurt to cool me off!

Tuesday Treasures

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a great long weekend. I spent a bunch of time knitting and taking photographs, which was lovely. This week I start taking my Career Planning course. I'm pretty excited that it's my last two weeks at Sprott-Shaw, but leaving is a bit scary too. Hopefully I find a good job in some sort of medical office setting! I'll probably be glued to my computer looking at Monster.ca, Workopolis and Craigslist for the next two weeks. I'm hoping that an office will contact my school searching for a candidate, as I'm the only MOA graduating in this block. Wish me luck!

This Tuesday Treasure's theme is all things medical!

Have a great week everyone! What did you get up to this long weekend?

Dolled Up

It's been so hot out lately. My west-facing apartment is an oven right now. I know that it's almost 40 degrees in parts of the states, and it's only 25+ here right now, but I am so not used to the heat. The weather has been so crappy this summer-- mostly rain and and comparatively cold. I enjoyed sitting on my bed, propped up with pillows, knitting dollies and watching TV shows on my laptop, while listening to the rain. It's hard to be productive when you're sticky, hot, and feel like you're suffocating.

The clothes in the autumn and winter are much cuter too. I bought a few cardigans, a few blouses, and dress pants for job interviews-- I feel like a real grown up now. Haha. It definitely feels good to dress up a bit. Victoria is a REALLY laid back city. Jeans+Hoodies+Yoga pants are the norm. Here's a cute little outfit I came up with for this week's Dolled Up.

I love this outfit. It's a little bit dorky and quite quirky. The fair-isle socks, the sweater with a work shirt underneath, cropped jeans, cute little Oxfords, and an adorable little fox bag.

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend (where applicable!) It's BC day here. ^_^

Tuesday Treasures

Hope everyone had a great weekend! The sun was out and shining bright for my Dad's 50th birthday on Saturday. The theme was Hawaiian Luau -- lots of pineapples, pulled pork sandwiches, leis, grass skirts and yummy drinks. Family came all the way from Vancouver to visit and we all had a lovely time. My little "niece" (I'm an only child- she's my cousin's daughter) is two and is super cute, so I had a great time running around with her, playing on the porch swing, and showing her dollies on the computer.

Here's a few photos ^_^

Me and Mum drinking Electric Popsicles (best drink ever)

The food was delicious, and the table looked awesome!

Yummy tropical drinks

Fewix got pretty tuckered out

Drink Recipe: Electric Popsicle

1 ounce Bols Blue Curacao

1 ounce Bols Melon

5 ounces 7UP

This drink turns a bright greenly blue, is extremely refreshing, and makes a great summer drink!

Alright, here's the Tuesday Treasures for this week...

My Nana is 96 years old this August, and recently decided that she was a bit too old to live alone. She's moved into a senior's/nursing home where she'll receive a bit more care. My grandparents put her condo on the market, and went through some of her belongings. I inherited some fun costume jewellery, gorgeous teacups, a doily collection, and some amazing granny-square squares (small like doll blankets). Lots of these things were packed away, so it's nice that they are being loved again. I'll post some pictures soon!

So, this week's Tuesday Treasures is All things Retro!
